Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves the combination of natural substances into prescriptions that are tailored to treat a specific set of complaints. These prescriptions are based on time-tested formulas, which are carefully designed for maximum effectiveness. Formulas can be customized to meet the unique needs of each individual. Some conditions may respond better to a combination of acupuncture and herbal treatment, or herbal medicine may be used on its own.
There are many forms of Chinese Herbal Medicine, including pills and capsules, teabags, extract powder, raw herbs, and topical plasters and ointments.
Only a Licensed Acupuncturist with herbal training should prescribe Chinese Herbal Medicine. Our extensive training enables us to select suitable herbal formulas and to monitor our patients’ progress. Most patients experience no side effects. If there is a question of whether herbs are appropriate for a specific individual, or if there is a potential for interaction with Western medication, we will proceed with caution.
We use only suppliers that have committed to a rigorous standard of quality control.
