Volunteers Needed!

If you have been to our office recently, you know it has been quite busy! Thank you for all of your support and referrals to friends and family!

Unfortunately, a busier schedule has led to increased wait time in some shifts, and it is getting harder for the acupuncturists to do everything on our own. We would love to have some of our loyal patients volunteer to staff the front desk, to help everything flow more smoothly.

Volunteers commit to one shift per week, for a minimum of three months. The shifts available are Monday 3:30-6:30pm, and Wednesday/Friday/Saturday 10am-1pm.

Receptionists should have a friendly personality and be technologically savvy enough to use our online scheduling system.

To become a volunteer, you first need to be a member of our acupuncture cooperative, the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture (POCA). Membership is on a sliding scale, starting at $25. You can sign up here.

In addition to helping out a socially responsible business, as a volunteer and POCA member, you will receive benefits like free treatments for yourself, free treatment cards to give to friends, a voting membership in the cooperative, and access to the online forums. Volunteer receptionists in good standing also will be given preference if a paid position becomes available.

If you are interested in volunteering and want to know more about these benefits, call the office to talk with Emily.

If you can’t commit to staffing the front desk every week, there are other ways you can volunteer. We need someone to help with taking out the recycling, hanging flyers, and other special projects.

What if you can’t volunteer, but you still want to support POCA? We would love to have you join POCA as a patient/community member. Your membership will help to support the growth of affordable community acupuncture across the country.
